Why Cleaning Businesses Live or Die by Word of Mouth (and Reviews)

Letting a stranger into your home is a bigger trust decision than almost any other local service. Before a customer ever compares your price to a competitor's, they're checking whether other people trusted you enough to let you in — and reviews are the only real evidence of that a stranger can see.

Recurring customers are your best (and most forgotten) review source

A one-time deep clean is an obvious moment to ask for a review. But recurring customers — the ones on a weekly or biweekly schedule — are often never asked at all, because there's no single "job's done" moment that triggers it. That's a missed opportunity: a customer who's kept you on for six months is a far stronger review than someone you cleaned for once.

Setting a simple rule — ask every recurring customer for a review once, a few weeks into service, then periodically after — closes this gap without turning into spam.

Photos matter more here than almost any other trade

When customers can, encourage a quick before/after photo alongside the review request. For cleaning specifically, visual proof does more convincing than words — a review with a photo of a spotless kitchen gets far more attention than five lines of text.

JobLoop automates exactly this — asking customers for reviews at the right time, and catching unhappy ones privately before they go public.
